The Bible doesn’t tell us too much of what God was doing before He created the world, but it does tell us enough to know that God is beyond our human understanding.

Genesis 1 “In the beginning God.”  God chose the Hebrew word Elohim to define himself. The word is singular with a plural definition. Many biblical scholars believe this refers to the Trinity: one being, 3 persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we know that God existed in perfect harmony as Father, Son and Holy Spirit from eternity past before He created the world.

Genesis 1:2 says, “The Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.” He was vividly present at the beginning  of time as we know it today.

We know Jesus was also present before the beginning of time:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.” John 1:1-3

“For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:16-17

“And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.” John 17:5

“Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.” John 17:24

“Not only did the Father, Son and Holy Spirit exist before creation but so did love. That is why we read in the Bible that God is love.” 1 John 4:8

We know from Ephesians 1:4, that God knew us by name before creation and determined that we should be holy and blameless before him. He also knew that we would sin and the penalty for that sin would send his son to the cross.

God planned before the beginning of time that he would offer to us eternal life. Titus 1:2

The Trinity of God represents perfect love in perfect harmony between God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit!

For all who believe in Jesus as their Savior, God promises that we will live in perfect love and harmony with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

John 14:16-17“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will bin you.”

John 17:20-21  “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”
