When the disciples of Jesus proclaimed the resurrection, they did so as eyewitnesses, and they did so while people were still alive who had contact with the events about which they spoke. In 56 AD, Paul wrote that over 500 people had seen the risen Jesus and that most of them were still alive (1 Corinthians 15:6). The resurrection is also confirmed in The Antiquities of the Jews by Josephus (18.3.3). As Thomas Hale points out, “If Jesus had, in fact, not risen from the dead, Paul could not have written these words; there were too many people still around who would have called him a liar!”

The prophets of the Old Testament prophesied over 333 times about the life of the Messiah. Micah 5:2 states,”But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity,” prophesied 750 years before the life of Jesus. The fulfillment of this prophecy recorded in John 7:2, Matthew 2:1; says “Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea.”

The most magnificent apologetic for the empty tomb of Jesus is the radical transformation of the lives of the disciples. Peter, the coward, becomes the emboldened leader of the New Testament church. James the brother of Jesus comes to believe, and Paul who persecuted the church becomes an apostle to the gentiles.

There is more historical and archaeological evidence for the death and resurrection of Christ than any other event in history. So the question is how has your life changed in light of the truth of the resurrection of Jesus Christ?
