From our gang to you, we wish you a Happy New Year!
For those of us who love the chill in the air and snowy days, this season is a welcomed sight! Others try to get through the barrenness of winter by waiting expectantly for this season to change in anticipation of new life springing up with the warmth of sunny days. For the Lord declares, “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease” (Gen. 8:22). All things, including the seasons, were created by Him and for Him.
We know that in all seasons of our life, whether on the mountaintop or in the valley, that God is with us, loves us, cares for us and is drawing us closer to Him. In the worst of days, God is with us as a peace giver and comforter. In those days when we are suffering, and Satan whispers to us that God is angry and paying us back for something bad we have done, remember that he is a liar, the father of all lies. That accusing voice of Satan can be quieted by reading the Scriptures, praying for healing and thanking God for who He is and for His grace and love. Then God will silence the lies of Satan and give you rest.
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:5-7
“I have told you these things, so that in me you will have peace. In the world, you will have trouble. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:2-4
