Being a Christian in everyday life is not easy. It demands a mind that is focused on Him. Every day we fight the battle in a spiritual realm: a war between Satan and the Holy Spirit that lives in us as Christians. One way he attacks us is to put negative thoughts in our minds that can cause fear, doubt, and struggle.
Those bad thoughts are not coming from God, but when called out with Scripture, they lose their power over our minds.
Who is Satan?
Liar “The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.” 2 Thessalonians 2:9,10
Enemy “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith,”. 1 Peter:5:8
Tempter “And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil.” Luke 4:1
Accuser “…who accuses them day and night before our God. Rev. 12:10
Imposter “For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants also disguise them selves as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.”. 2 Corinthians 11: 13-15
How can I deal with bad thoughts? By responding with God’s word.
You are a mistake!”For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” Psalm 139:13-14
God hates you.”For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east Is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us” Psalm 103:11,12
God will pay you back for your bad choices.”God does not deal with us according to our past sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.” Psalm 103: 10,12
God does not care about you.”Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
God will abandon you.”The LORD is the one who is going ahead of you. He will be with you. He won’t abandon you or leave you. So don’t be afraid or terrified.” Deuteronomy 31:8
You have no future. You will fail.For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for peace and plenty and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
All the fiery darts Satan uses against us to cause- fear, doubt, murmuring, self-pity, anger, delusion and death-can be quenched by our shield of faith. But we must have a solid faith built on the Word of God.
