If not dealt with, bad images can go on for an entire lifetime.

Prayer, seeking godly counsel, reading Scripture, and confession and repentance are the only way to put an end to this.

Positional (becoming a Christian one time!) confession and relational (personal relationship disrupted from sin- when needed) confession.

Our best weapon is Scripture.

1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man.

God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Quote Scripture when it happens and tell Satan to be gone from your mind.

John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

Train your mind to think this way when under attack. Do not dwell on the lie and the past but rather on who God is, who you are and…”Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you” Philippians 4:8-9

The promise from God is that if we choose to not entertain bad things in our mind, but choose to think only those things that are right and true, God will help us along the way. Like all things that involve life change, it takes time.
