What is the Christian worldview?

Listen to Nancy's full response on Mornings with Kelli and Steve on Moody Radio here!

Many people claim to be Christian because they were born in America and occasionally go to church. 75% of Americans identify themselves as Christian which sounds good until you realize that only 2% can defend their faith. Only 6% live out their faith in their daily lives, and up to 90% lose their faith by the time they graduate from college.

Everyone has a worldview. A worldview is the foundation from which we think, believe and make decisions. It determines how we live, view life and respond to the world around us. There are many different worldviews, but the Christian worldview is different from all others. It is an open system, not based on works but on trusting completely in Jesus as our Savior. When we believe, our lives are eternally changed.

The Holy Spirit takes up residence forever in us, we are forgiven, saved, adopted as His child with purpose and hope and loved deeply by God. He shows us how to love God but also love others unconditionally, even our enemies. God makes us righteous, not perfect in behavior, meaning that all of our sins are forgiven. This makes us FREE to live and to love others. Through the Christian worldview, we can know for sure how God sees us and that what He says in the Bible is truth. This is life changing!

When Satan comes to discourage us and bring doubt as to who we are and who God is, we can look to God and remind ourselves of the truth through His word. We can speak words of life, love, grace, truth and encouragement over our own lives, but also into the lives of others. The Holy Spirit empowers us to live out the Christian worldview and to be a light to those around us, be it at home, work, or elsewhere.
